I honestly don't know what exactly went wrong but for the past few days, everything worked as intended. (Without me changing anything) So I guess my problem is resolved, but it's still weird why I had these issues.

I agree with what you describe and it seems like the procedure you're following is according to the book. If there are no devices in the router and/or child table then the issue you're observing should not be due to residual information that are still present from the devices you've removed.

Do you see the same behavior with other Matter samples as well? I'm curious if it might be related to the switch/bulb samples, the current build of the firmware you've flashed to the devices and/or the physical boards you've used

I use nRF Connect 2.3.0 and the corresponding sdk-connectedhomeip v2.3.0 (I use chip-tool-debug).

I haven't used all devices since I last had a successful commissioning process. So in theory everything should still work the same. But the hardware just doesn't want to this time.

I've always pressed button 1 on the lightbulb to issue a reset, so that I can have a fresh start with the commissioning.

A while ago I had the issue that there still was a child listed in the child table of the border router, but I checked and there everything seems fine and only the device I use to act as the border router is listed in the router table and the child table is empty. So this should not be an issue this time.

We're looking into the issue you're describing, but in the meanwhile could you state which version of nRF Connect SDK you are using?

Could you also state if you've made any modifications in between the successful and unsuccessful commissioning of the devices?

Have you removed (unpaired/unprovisioned) the devices from the network before you attempt to commission them again?
