&lt;p&gt;In the past and even today in many, many cases, it is CP-RAI with NB-IoT Rel 13, which is the work horse for that RAI savings. A lot of stuff and especially the use-case (last message) is possible also with CP-RAI. Therefore I&amp;#39;m not sure, why the CP-RAI is said the be out of scope.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Well,&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="https://quotethedayaway.wordpress.com/2013/06/05/all-theory-is-gray-my-friend-but-forever-green-is-the-tree-of-life/"&gt;theory is gray&lt;/a&gt; ? And the tree of live? There are some &lt;a href="/f/nordic-q-a/98544/please-consolidate-nrf9160-documentation-about-cp-rai-and-as-rai"&gt;questions&lt;/a&gt; and quite a lot of &amp;quot;workarounds&amp;quot;, so that could be greener. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Sumup:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;- if you request AS-RAI, you don&amp;#39;t know, what the network supports. The modem knows that, but the app doesn&amp;#39;t get that info.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;- if AS-RAI is requested, some of the AS-RAI options are working with AS-RAI network, and some of the AS-RAI options are only working with CP-RAI network (yes, that mixes up the people, for sure!)&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;So, if Nordic wants to promote RAI power savings, maybe Nordic starts with a more complete documentation and maybe in reconsider, how to represent that implementation limits in the API. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;img src="https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/aggbug?PostID=1474&amp;AppID=4&amp;AppType=Weblog&amp;ContentType=0" width="1" height="1"&gt;</description></item></channel></rss>
