RAI for sure can save a lot of power.

In the past and even today in many, many cases, it is CP-RAI with NB-IoT Rel 13, which is the work horse for that RAI savings. A lot of stuff and especially the use-case (last message) is possible also with CP-RAI. Therefore I'm not sure, why the CP-RAI is said the be out of scope.

Well, theory is gray ? And the tree of live? There are some questions and quite a lot of "workarounds", so that could be greener.

Sumup:

- if you request AS-RAI, you don't know, what the network supports. The modem knows that, but the app doesn't get that info.

- if AS-RAI is requested, some of the AS-RAI options are working with AS-RAI network, and some of the AS-RAI options are only working with CP-RAI network (yes, that mixes up the people, for sure!)

So, if Nordic wants to promote RAI power savings, maybe Nordic starts with a more complete documentation and maybe in reconsider, how to represent that implementation limits in the API.
