Linux: Segger Embedded Studio 310i installer does not work (blank window

I'm using Arch Linux, with kernel 4.9.6 on a 64-bit laptop. Using a window manager with no desktop environment.

I'm trying to install Segger Embedded Studio 310i, which is linked to here. I get the same behaviour from the 32-bit installer as for the 64-bit one.

Running sudo ./install_segger_embedded_studio, it first opens a window showing a progress bar. When that is done, it opens another blank window with no content. It will stay that way indefinitely until I close the window. Then it will create another window on top (as if saying "are you sure you want to quit?"), and when I quit that one, the program ends.

I have not been able to find an alternative way to install the program (hoping to find a way that doesn't require the GUI installation program). It does not seem to exist in the official package repository of Arch Linux, nor in the Arch User Repository.

Is there any output in the terminal if you launch it from there? strace ("strace " or piggyback on the pid ("strace -p ") could also be useful.

There is no output normally. If I run it with ´strace ´, this is the last few lines bpaste.net/.../b93cec1c1ed9

I tried to install the same version as you, and I see similar behavior. For me it is only one window, all grey, with "SEGGER Embedded Studio 3.10i Setup" as the window name. Looks to be an issue with the installer itself. I'm running Ubuntu 16.10 x64. Have you tried one of the older versions as a workaround for now? www.segger.com/.../embeddedstudio -> click "older version"

I tried 310 e, g, h and i for 64-bit and e and i for 32-bit - all with the exact same behaviour. Is it different for you?

Temporary solution: I had an old VM, with an old version of Linux (although 32-bit). I could install (read: extract) the files in there and copy it out and to my laptop. Seems like all their installers break with a newer version of Linux (or some other package).
