Nordic "Thingy:52" - connection issue

Hello Nordic People,

Today I visited the NordicTechTour in Eindhoven, NL.

At the end we were given the "thingy" - quite interesting and useful hardware thingy.

However, I still can't connect to it.

So far I was able to:

  • turn it on (it gives a blue light response but not sure what's kind of status does this blue light mean)
  • make sure it's charged
  • make sure it's awake (I shook it as prescribed and also pressed the N-button)
  • restart it 2-3 times by switching off and then on again
  • tried to reach it thru the Thingy app (downloaded from the Play Store)
  • tried to reach it thru the Bluetooth menu of my Android phone
  • tried different combinations of pressing the Scan button in the Thingy app and pressing the N-button at the same time (pressed it for long, clicked on Scan; pressed it few times, clicked on Scan; etc.)

Additional info: Inside the Bluetooth menu of my phone I could see two entries for my Thingy. One is named "Thingy" and the other one has a name made of numbers and letters which I found on a sticker on the Thingy, it's looks like C7:31:DE:something:something. What's interesting is that when I try to connect to Thingy it responds saying "Pairing rejected by Thingy." and the device itself blinking in the default blue light. However, when I try to connect to the Thingy thru the numbers-and-letters device (which is the Thingy) it starts blinking in more green-ish light.

What else can I do to fire it up?

Would be extremely grateful if you can provide any help/tips/tricks/tutorials.
