Debug nrf52DK using linux as host?

Hi There, I am Using Linux as host platform I'm able to successfully compile and download the example to the nrf52dk. But I didn't understand how to debug the example on nrf52dk. I searched on forum but i think there are many ways to do it .Can i debug using GDB commands ?if yes then how to get started ? Or I have to use JLinkRTTClient or may be nrfjprog tool?

I am new to the nrf.

This guide is for MAC but I believe it will be 95% applicable.
