Current peak

What is the peak current of NRF52832 in Bluetooth communication?

  • Hi,

Peak current for the nRF52832 RADIO peripheral can be found at this infocenter page:

    • 5.3 mA peak current in TX (0 dBm, DCDC enabled)
    • 5.4 mA peak current in RX(DCDC enabled).

The values in this section shows the total current consumption when using the radio in TX or RX mode. The radio peripheral will request different other resources (like the HFCLK) when it is used, therefore the total current consumption is higher.

I would recommend taking a look at the online power profiler for estimating the current consumption for a bluetooth application on nRF52832. The values used here are based on measurements (and are actually lower than the ones in the specification). You can select BLE Advertising and BLE Perhiperal Connection.
