Sniffer not working (almost all of the time)

Hi, we downloaded the latest version of the sniffer 1.0.1 (today). We tried that but we could not get it to work reliably? The application sees the device, we select and if we press enter it says: sniffing device 2 - "XXX_TEST"

But after that nothing is displayed even with a device connected. We also tried to launched Wireshark (w) but again nothing. This is the case connected or advertising. We have a PCA10031 programmed up (also tried re-programming). The white and Green LEDs are on all the time. We tried resetting the machine and had some success, in that it worked once with Wireshark (with the PCA10028) but not again?

We also tried it on another Windows 10 machine but had the same problem as our Windows 7. Our PCA10031 is version 1.1.0 (not sure if that matters) but we also tried it with a PCA10028 and get the same problem.

We have downloaded V1.0.1 but the DOS window shows _1111 on all files.

Any ideas how we can get this going please?

You may need to downgrade the firmware on the Jlink chip on the board to v5.10n (or 5.12f ) You can download the driver here. To downgrade you need to use Jlink Configurator and right click on the board select Replace firmware.

I downgraded it and it worked for a short while and then stopped. I can see the devices I'm trying to sniff but there is nothing in WireShark. I'm using Wireshark 1.10.14. Again I tried it on two machines with the same result.

It worked fine for me. Which exactly the firmware version you used ? I'm testing with v5.10n.

Make sure you don't update it back to newer firmware when a popup appear.

OK I got it going (so far so good)! I'm not sure if this is in the documentation (I didn't see it anyway). This is important.....open WireShark before you press 'w'. It might be a timing thing but unless I have it open it rarely works.
