nRF52832, STM32 Central w/ Serialization not scanning

I'm trying to implement a BLE Central device on an STM32 using Serialization to connect with an nRF52-DK board; I've previously gotten a BLE Peripheral working on the same setup (in this case I'm not trying to use Central and Peripheral in the same firmware).

I've used the HRS_C example as reference and I can't seem to get a response from scanning / the ble_evt ADV_REPORT. I don't appear to be getting any returned errors (I've double and triple checked that all returned error codes are checked). Once the ble_stack is initialized, bonded pairs are deleted, and scanning is started, I receive no scanned data from the nRF52832.

Edit: Further testing shows that if I try to use the ble_manager_whitelist_disable function, the nRF52832 will stop responding in certain circumstances. I set the timeout to 2 seconds and print when the timeout occurs and the scanning is restarted; I can watch the scanning stop and start and continue to do so until I start advertising on any nearby bluetooth peripheral; at this point the nRF52832 stops responding...

Attached is my code and the decoded SPI packets from Saleae:

  • I found an apparent solution to this problem.

    The settings between my STM32 Serialization firmware and the Connectivity / SoftDevice that I loaded weren't the same. In particular changing the below config defines to match between Serialization and Connectivity resolved the issues and I can now see advertising packets and connect accordingly.

    // <o> NRF_SDH_BLE_GAP_EVENT_LENGTH - The time set aside for this connection on every connection interval in 1.25 ms units.
    #ifndef NRF_SDH_BLE_GAP_EVENT_LENGTH
    #define NRF_SDH_BLE_GAP_EVENT_LENGTH 320
    #endif

    // <o> NRF_SDH_BLE_GATT_MAX_MTU_SIZE - Static maximum MTU size.
    #ifndef NRF_SDH_BLE_GATT_MAX_MTU_SIZE
    #define NRF_SDH_BLE_GATT_MAX_MTU_SIZE 247
    #endif

    // <o> NRF_SDH_BLE_GATTS_ATTR_TAB_SIZE - Attribute Table size in bytes. The size must be a multiple of 4.
    #ifndef NRF_SDH_BLE_GATTS_ATTR_TAB_SIZE
    #define NRF_SDH_BLE_GATTS_ATTR_TAB_SIZE (1408)
    #endif

    // <o> NRF_SDH_BLE_VS_UUID_COUNT - The number of vendor-specific UUIDs.
    #ifndef NRF_SDH_BLE_VS_UUID_COUNT
    #define NRF_SDH_BLE_VS_UUID_COUNT 4
    #endif
