I would like to use an nRF8002 in a proximity detection application. I would like to be able to send a request/command to the device to start a continuous or rapid transmit of dummy data, until a stop command is sent. Thanks.

Hi,
The nRF8002 is a restricted system-on-chip made for typical keyfob applications. By this I mean that it only supports a given profile (proximity) and a given set of configurations. The nRF8002 cannot be programmed to do the specific task you ask about.
For a "burst of data"-application using BLE, you will have to look at either the nRF8001 or the nRF51822.
Hi,
Since you are planning to send a command to change the behavior of the nRF8002, an alternative would be to change the connection interval to a more frequent connection interval and then change it to a less frequent connection interval, this can be done from the master side of the link. This would provide the more frequent transmissions from the nRF8002 that you seem to require.
In addition the nRF8001 already sends a Read Request every 30 seconds when an encrypted link is available.
Hope this helps.
Thanks
You mention that the nRF8002 can be used in a keyfob applications. What profile/service/characteristic should be used to transmit a button press on the nRF8002 input pins back to a phone ?
Thank You
You can use the Alert Notification or Immediate Alert on the peer to transmit the button press to the peer. In this case the nRF8002 acts as a GATT Client.
Hi
Thank you for your reply. Is there sample Android code that Nordic provides for this purpose ?
I purchased the full NRF8002 kit and was able to test this feature using the nRF Android app (nRF Toobox). I am searching for the source code for this app but I am not able to download the Android nRF Toolbox source code. Is the source code available for purchasing this kit ?
