32KHz Oscillator Calibration

Good afternoon, I'm using an extern 32KHz crystall oscillator. Is it necessary to calibrate it? If yes, should I also use the CAL task? Best regards.

  • Hi Dani,

It's not necessary to calibrate an external crystal oscillator, as these are accurate by-design.

It's only the internal 32k RC oscillator that needs calibration if you choose to use this. RC oscillators usually have an initial drift of thousands of ppm, and to keep this within the 250 ppm specification given by the bluetooth spec, calibration is needed.

    Cheers, Håkon
