how to count pulse with nrf51822

i am very confused about how to count pulse by using nrf51822? I am going to make a heart rate counter, but i don't know how to config registers to achieve this function. could you please give some sample codes?

Hi

I have example here that toggles LED when a signal goes high or low in an input pin. See more explanation at the top of the main file in the example. It was implemented for the nRF51822/nRF51422 Development kit and nRF51 SDK v6.1. No softdevice.

I used the example to measure frequency of an input signal by connecting a logical analyzer to the pin that toggles the LED.
