Creating custom control points under nRF51?

Can anyone comment on, or point me to specific documentation, regarding creating custom control points under nRF51? I'm using both nRF51822 and nRF51922 parts. I have read and implemented the example code from nAN-36 ("Creating Bluetooth Low Energy Applications Using nRF51822") but that application note does not detail creating custom profiles (which I also need) or more complicated characteristics such as control points. I've been assured that one CAN create fully custom profiles/services etc. but as the SoftDevices (S110 or S310) are not modifiable, I'm concerned that's not really the case.

Yes, you can create custom control points by using authorization, see the documentation here for more information:

Since authorization gives you complete control over the response code and the data you reply with, this allows you to implement complex protocols over ATT, such as control point-type attributes.
