Power Profiler Kit II and Raspberry Pi Pico in Ampere mode

I have a Raspberry Pi Pico which is powered by a Lipo battery. I want to measure the current with the Power Profiler Kit II. I hooked the 2 grounds to to the board, and VIN to the 3.3 output of Pico, and VOUT to VSYS on the Pico.  When I put the PPKII in Ampere mode with no power, it just says waiting for trigger. What do I need to do to monitor the power

  • Hi,

Could you take a picture of your setup?

    Regards,
    Sigurd Hellesvik

  • Thank you Sigurd. I was able to get it to run, but the levels a very low and not what I expect. Using the PPK2 as a power source I see a draw of about 20mA. With this set up in ampere mode with no power I see .17uA..

  • Do you change connections between source mode and ampere mode?

Could explain how you understand the difference between the two modes?

  • I only added the brown VIN wire and the other ground. In source mode the PPK2 is providing the power. I want to see how much is being used when the battery is supplying power.

  • With Ampere mode, you must attach the PPK2 in between the power source and the device, so it can "watch" all the current that goes through it. Did you do this?
