Ubuntu Thread Border Router Nrf52840

Hi, I tried using the border router example that is provided and it works ok. I would like to install the border router software right onto a machine running ubuntu so that my entire project can be on the one machine. It can be a raspberry pi if needed but I would prefer x86 architecture.

I tried it on the raspberry pi by following the build process of the openwrt build but with a ubuntu install. Most of it went well but I just cant get it to connect to the NCP. I see notes that github.com/.../thread_border_router_feeds needs to be used to allow the NCP with NRF52840.

Am I better just to use a different NCP?

Yea. It works fine on openwrt. I would like UBUNTU for additional functionality.

I basically want to have a full desktop with xsession node.js, and mongodb then have it directly connect to my thread network.

Using the openwrt I can have 2 devices but Im looking into the possibility of making it all in one.

This should be possible, but have not yet been thoroughly tested. I will do some testing and write some more detailed instructions. Do you need NAT64 (you do if you only have IPv4 connection available), or do you have native IPv6 connection?

I would like nat64. However, if I was able to get a setup basically identical to the openwrt it would still work I believe since I would only be trying to reach the host computer or the thread nodes from the host computer.

It's been four years. Any luck with getting the Nordic Border Router software to run on Ubuntu?
