nRF52840 comp port settings

We have ordered nRF52840 development kit . In windows xp comp port is coming as 8 but the device status in general is this evice cannot start.(code 10). Same in windows 7 there is no issue driver is fyn . Please help on this how to proceed further .

Have you talked to segger tech support? They have a support portal which seems quite good. This link could help you further. You could also try to manually install the driver on windows xp. You can then most likely find the driver under C:\Program Files (x86)\SEGGER\JLink_V618c\USBDriver og similar.

Quick question: Can you not use windows 7 instead of xp if that is currently working? I think segger would be more able to help you out further in case of problems if you use windows 7 instead of xp because windows 7 is newer than xp. But that is a choice you will have to make.

Segger team responded back saying that they will not help for jlink . Please be in touch with eval board manufacturer nordic .

Windows XP are out of support even by Microsoft, not a surprise that no one cares about problems with it... But you seems to be lacking basic actions: get SEGGER J-Link SW package, install it, restart the machine an try. If not working then try to pick SEGGER J-Link driver manually through Windows Device Manager. If not working try mbed driver. If you cannot complete these simple steps there is probably no help for you...
