What version of Eclipse is recommended for nRF52

I am about to start using the nRF52 for several projects and would like to know which version of Eclipse is recommended? Since Eclipse can be customized in many ways I'm looking for an answer more along the lines of Mars, Neon, Oxygen, etc rather than a specific set of plugins to use.

I would rather not deal with bugs or problems caused by trying to use too new (or too old) of a version of Eclipse for it to work well with the Nordic SDK (which looks like it is up to version 14.2 now).

If it matters my development environments will be either a VirtualBox'd Ubuntu 16.04LTS on a Win7 host or Fedora 26. Both are 64-bit.

It's been about twenty minutes so far... I used the window SES brings up when you try to compile. I just tried the URL above, we'll see what happens.

So much for spending time working on the project instead of the tools...

well you can just click through once and use SES for free, there's no restriction, no code size limit etc. Then at least you can work out if you think it'll work. Install the actual license when it gets sorted out, it doesn't need to get in the way of working with SES. All it does is silence the nag screen each time you start it up.

Now I need to figure out how to get the SDK installed....

SDK download unzip. There is at least one possibly more 'getting started with SES' video tutorials. Mostly it's download, open project, hit f7 to compile, add breakpoint, hit f5, continue with the day.
