Can i interface 5V sesnors with nrf52840?

Hello Nordic Team,

I have few analog sensors that operate at 5V DC and outputs voltage signal within 0.5V - 4.5V range. I know i cannot interface these sensors with nrf52832 but can i use them with nrf52840? If yes, then do i have to use any level- shifter or i can interface directly?

Surely, the datasheet answers this question?

The datasheet tells you the permitted input range - doesn't it?

I was referring to this part. Does it mean I cannot interface sensors that output voltage within 0.5V-4.5V range?

So the absolute maximum is 3.9V

Is 4.5V greater than 3.9V ... ?

I can clearly understand that it is not possible in a direct way. I am trying to ask what would be the best way to do so or is it not safe for the micro-controller to interface such sensors at all?
