storage device with less power consumption and less space requirement

Hi,

We are using BMD340 in our project. In our application we need a storage medium for the storing of data. Since our application is an embedded application, we find eMMC a good option since it have less power consumption and less space requirement. But the BMD340 doesnt support eMMC module and software bit-banging is not that much easy. SD card, an another option is  having high power consumption and required a separate slot in the device. So that can't be  used. So is their any idea about any other storage device which is compatible with BMD340 and having less power consumption. The storage device that can be soldered into the PCB board is highly appreciable since minimal space is also another consideration.

  • We use 4Gbit NAND FLASH (512Mbyte x 8) with the BMD350 which works well with SPI even though SPI transfers are limited to 256 bits on the BMD350. The BMD340 supports longer SPI transfers, so that should be a better solution. We use 8-pin Micron MT29F4G01ADAGDWB and Toshiba TC58CVG2S0HRAIG, but smaller and larger sizes are actually more easy to purchase given current shortages.

  • Hi,

    Thank you for the reply.

Actually depending on our requirement  we need a minimum of 8GB storage device with 1.8V operating voltage. This is 4Gbit NAND FLASH. So can you suggest any other such storage device with these conditions..

  • Best to contact manufacturer or supplier as availability is currently a huge problem. Micron and Toshiba both have SPI 8G parts but no availability. A search on Digikey reveals a dozen os so eg www.digikey.com/.../7598182

  • Thank you so much for the help..

  • Hi,

While searching in the site, a device with part number MT29F8G08ABBCAH4-IT:C is found. It is of 8Gbit .But the interface is open  NAND flash interface.

Is this interface is supported by this micro controller? So I would like to know whether it is compatible with nrf52840 and sufficient driver files is available within the micro controller.

Would like to know more about any other device with 1.8V ,SPI interfaced memory devices with 8Gbit capacity.
