    I appreciate that you spent your time teaching me.

    I just done the Window+D function with the modifier byte by using the send_key_scan_press_release() .

    BTW, I just viewed the description above the command:

     * @param[in] pattern_offset Offset applied to Key Pattern for transmission.
     * @param[out] actual_len Provides actual length of Key Pattern transmitted, making buffering of
     *                            rest possible if needed.
     * @return NRF_SUCCESS on success, BLE_ERROR_NO_TX_PACKETS in case transmission could not be
     * completed due to lack of transmission buffer or other error codes indicating reason

     *             can be enqueued \ref buffer_enqueue function.
     * In case a pattern of 'cofFEe' is the p_key_pattern, with pattern_len as 6 and
     * pattern_offset as 0, the notifications as observed on the peer side would be

    There is an interesting part I would like to know, how to make the command in sequence like "C-O-F-F-E-E" by using this command or others, and what is the different from coffee ->0 directly?

    Thank a lot.

     Sending "hello" in one string may be interpreted as "helo" on some operating systems USB HID implementations, as it saw the reoccurring letters as redundant.

    The buffering logic in ble_app_hids_keyboard has no other actual functionality than to work around this issue for the demo purposes, so just ignore it and send your keypress directly via "ble_hids_inp_rep_send", then send a "release key" afterwards.

    Cheers,

  • Hi Hakon,

    Recently, I used the specific combined function (Win+D) based on the sample code...

    //11/19 Wedy try for the combined key need to use with modifier(Window 0x08)
    static uint8_t desk[8] = {0,0,0x07,0,0,0,0,0}; //Window+D

    I found that after I pressed the button and the function is worked to hide the desktop, but after I released the button, the Win is still be pressed that I need to press the Win on keyboard to release it.

            else
            {
                err_code = ble_hids_boot_kb_inp_rep_send(p_hids,
                                                         INPUT_REPORT_KEYS_MAX_LEN,
                                                         data);
            }

            if (err_code != NRF_SUCCESS)
            {
                break;
            }

            offset++;
        } while (offset <= data_len);

        *p_actual_len = offset;

        return err_code;
    }

    Moreover, there are several times when I press the button it will show "d" for the first time, especially when I press it after I have do other event with key board .

    //11/19 Wedy add for the combined key application
    		case BSP_EVENT_KEY_1:
    		    if (m_conn_handle != BLE_CONN_HANDLE_INVALID)
                {
                    keys_send(8, p_key);
    								p_key = desk;
    								size=0;
                }
                break;

    Do you have any explanation for this? Or I have miss any parts of setting?

    Besides, I also found the issue of below:

    //11/26 Wedy try for the combined key like presenet status (need to use with modifier(Window 0x08)) and add the sequence state
    static uint8_t WIN_HELP[8] = {0,0,0x3A,0,0,0,0,0};   //Win+F1
    I was trying to use the hotkey, but I just found that the combined key with Win + functional key (F1~F20) cannot use the same protocol like WIN+D.

    If I used the WIN_HEIP there is only F1 action is different from the WIN+F1.

    Do you have any ideal with this?

    Thanks for your patience.

    BR,

    Wedy

  • Hi Hakon,

    I just find out the way to release the Win like below change of setting:

    but there is still the problem with the "d" when the "Win+D" is pressed but seldom.

    Moreover, there is the issue when ever I press the  button from each to the other, it always show the past event for the first time. Do you know the reason?

    By the way, I also used the change to achieve the WIN_HELP.

    But according to some further application, I would like to know how to fit the following protocol for Window OS:

    i. “Win” + “F1” (raw data: 08 00 3A 00 00 00 00 00)
    ii. Release “F1” (raw data: 08 00 00 00 00 00 00 00)
    iii. Release “Win” (raw data: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00)

    because of my present solution is like:

    i. “Win” + “F1” (raw data: 08 00 3A 00 00 00 00 00)
    ii. Release “Win” + “F1” (raw data: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00)

  • Hi Wedy,

    I'd recommend using app_button instead of BSP. App_button is able to provide a interrupt on both rising and falling edge, ie: push and release of the button. BSP is not able to do this properly. This could be a source of the issue you're seeing, as it might not always release the key properly.

    If the modifier is 0x8, then it should be OK to send it in two request (push and release), like your last solution.

    Kind regards,

    Håkon
