Do I need to run the secure boot sample before running the asset tracker application for the nrf9160dk?If so where do I find the secure boot Cmake files.I can't find them in my samples folder.

Ah, that's good information for me to know. 

That explains why there is no merged.hex in the build folder. 

The best solution for you is to focus on one support ticket: #228915 and solve this first.
