Problem with nRF51 antenna orientation

Hi,

I have problem with nRF51 antenna orientation. I used nRF51 developement kit (mKIT) board and I had problem with communication if I just change a little inorientation of board, this boards using PCB antenna. Now, I am using Laird module based on nRF51 and it used chip antenna but still I have the same problem. Please let me know what should I do about it and why it happen. Regards

  • Do they exhibit the same problem if you spread them out instead of being close together ? Just curious. :)

  • yes , exactly as your suggestion I put them far away and still by changing orientation the performance is changed, even I decrease the output power antenna to see if it has negative effect on close distance but I did not see big changes and everything was the same, again different angle different performance.

  • What do you mean by problems with communication? Are you not getting packages through or are you seeing that you are dropping a package every now and then? Do you have the wifi module running? Do you see the same issue if you turn the wifi part off?

As Nguyen said, what happens if you move the modules further apart from each other? Do you still see the same issue?

  • Dear Asbjorn,

Actually, I mean that if I change the orientation of one of the boards, the communication quality has a huge change, from loosing more than 50% of package up to loosing all of them and stop communication, certainly I have to use wifi module to transfer the packages over the air, I can not test it if I turn the wifi part off because there is no package transfer.

  • It is the BLE or the Wifi the problem? You are going to need to find out which one is losing signal then.
