nRF9160 DK cloud error "nRFCode 40001... using a non-JITP certificate"

Hello -

I am trying to set up the nRF9160 DK kit. I successfully updated the firmware and entered the ICCID, PUK, IMEI, and HWID values. When registering for nRF Cloud, in the "Add LTE" screen i get the message "There was an error adding your device: nRFCode 40001: Attempting to verify ownership code for device nrf-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx using a non-JITP certificate." This is after I enter the IMEI and HWID values. I can confirm that iBasis SIM card that came with the kit is plugged in, and I live in an area with LTE coverage (Philadelphia). Please help. Thank you.

  • Thanks , I have had it removed from the database. Can you please retry to register in nRF Cloud?

  • Hi Øyvind -

Thank you for the help. When I tried to add the device to the cloud it gave me the message "There was an error adding your device: It wasn't found. Is it connected? If the LED(s) don't indicate that it's connected, you may have to update your device." Upon re-updating the cloud certificate and cycling power, I was finally able to successfully add the device to my cloud account. So I am good for now.

I want to say I really appreciate your support in helping me through this. However, I feel the need to let Nordic know that this bring-up has been a very frustrating process in getting an "out of the box" demo to work - it has taken a week of daily effort to get a device communicating and registered to my account. I hope going forward that things are smoother.

Thank you again for your support.

    Regards,

    Kevin

That would have been my next suggestion! Glad to hear that it is working. Good work!

Yes, I agree with your feedback, and we are aware that the "out-of-box" demo isn't quite there yet. I will forward your feedback and hope to improve this process very soon.

    Kind regards,
    Øyvind
