nRF Connect for Mobile: Export Advertiser Settings

I have cloned a few beacons with nRF Connect and use the app to advertise these when testing our beacons and apps. It is (to my best knowledge) not possible however, to export these advertiser settings and transfer them to another phone (with the nRF Connect app installed).

Is this a feature planned for the future? Is there a way to transfer the settings manually from phone to phone?

Thank you for answers and best regards.

  • I do not have problems cloning an entry (btw you can also clone entries of BLE Advertisements which are by design non-connectable).

Let me explain in more detail what I want to achieve:

    1. I have an advertiser sending BLE advertisements (e.g. iBeacons)
    2. Using an android phone and the nRF Connect App, I scan for the BLE Advertisement, select it and click "Clone" (see yellow marking in the screenshot):
    3. In the tab "Advertiser" of the app, I now have the cloned advertisement which I can transmit by using the slider that is shown next to the entry (see screenshot below)

What I want to do is to save/export that cloned advertisement and transfer it to another Android smartphone so that it can be advertised from that phone aswell.

I hope this clarifies my question - I am looking forward to any solution proposed.

  • Okay, this clarifies things. I'm so sorry about the misunderstanding(s). Then I'm sorry to say that my initial response was correct, and that this feature is not yet available in the nRFConnect for Android app. What you'll have to do as of now, is to clone the advertiser in the scanner on each of the phones you'd like this advertiser in.

We never discuss future features/products here on DevZone, so if you'd like more information on if/when this feature will be added to nRFConnect, please contact the RSM (Regional Sales Manager) of your area for a road map. If you don't know who this is, please say so, and I will help you get in touch.

    Best regards,

    Simon
