nRF Connect Direct Test Mode application doesn't work with nRF5340

I flashed my board with DTM image, assign P0.20 for TX and P022 for RX.  Most of the times the DTM application can't communicate with the nRF5340, maybe 1 out of 20 times, it sends the command to start the test.  Out of those successful connected, 1 out of 10 times actually able to setup the test.

I sniffed the UART line and found the Application doesn't send the commands correctly most of the time. When I click start test button, the App only send "0000"

Maybe 1 out of 100, I got lucky and the App setup the test correctly

Is the version v.1.1.7 not for nRF5340? Or there is another version/application for nRF5340?

Additional info:

The App sent "00" command and the nRF5340 responded. Most of the time the App doesn't get the response.

What is does the physical connection to your board look like? Have you ruled out faulty lines? Are you using the nRF5340 DK?

I am using your nRF5340 eval board, Taiyo Yuden nRF5340 eval board, and my design board.  All three board can’t communicate with the PC App properly.

 

The I used terminal to send the command(0x80 0x03) directly and it works.  I sniffed the output of the App, it always send command 0x00 0x00, then say can’t communicate with the DUT.

 

 

Have you verified the App with your nRF5340 setup?

I am working on reproducing the issue. However, I am having trouble getting Direct Test Mode to work with nRF5340 DK. I will look more into this tomorrow.

Hi Arthur,

You need a second DK(nRF52 DK or nRF52840 DK) which is controlled by the DTM app in nRF Connect. You may then connect the terminal to nRF53 running NCS DTM example and manually send commands to it through the terminal.
