Hi Nordic team

Q1. I am testing SDK Connect v1.6.0/full_modem_update. Pressed button1 to start download from S3 server. It was successful.

      Then, it started to update modem firmware from external flash memory that downloaded file was saved.

     However, it failed as below log shown. How come it happened? Thanks.

Q2. What is the difference between button1 and button2 press?

      As button1 pressed, download whole modem firmware and then really update modem from external flash memory?

      How about button2? Did it still need to download modem firmware to external flash memory in advance?

which revision of the nRF9160 DK are you using when running the application? And what is the current modem firmware image revision you are trying to update from?

Q2. What is the difference between button1 and button2 press?

As described by the application itself:

Press Button 1 to download and apply full modem firmware update
Press Button 2 to apply modem firmware update (no download)

So pressing Button 2 will not download a firmware image, only update to the version stored in the external flash memory.

DK is v1.0.0. modem is v1.2.3.

I can duplicate this issue every time.

What doe error -22 mean?

error -22 means invalid argument, which is related to an invalid hash length.

Are you using the board controller firmware coming along with the nRF9160 DK, or could you possibly have modified it?

1. In this afternoon, I tried same code/same hardware again. It did work to finish full modem download and overwrite.

    I didn't know the reason.

2. Yes. I modified board controller to let p0.19 output high. Then, external flash can be used.
