Internal DCDC vs LDO for nRF52 series

I will be using a 3.7V LiPo to power my NRF52 system. As far I understand, using the internal DCDC regulator is a better choice as it can save power compared to internal LDO. I assume this the case for most applications.

Can anyone enlighten me what is the use case for internal LDO when you have a internal DCDC already?

Hi,

Please consult the infocenter section on power(renamed since this answer was last visited, hence broken link).

The chip will automatically switch between DC/DC and LDO to maximize efficiency. If you intend to use DC/DC you must place the LC filter.

How has the DCDC to be enabled or disabled, is there a special SoftDevice function? Or is it sufficient to write the DCDCEN register from application code? As the DCDCEN register is disabled after reset, is it correct to assube that the DCDC will not be used unless manually enabled? Or does the SoftDevice (or sd_ble_enable() ) automatically enable the DCDC?
