nRF52832 Master to BMA456 Slave (Step tracker) or I2C

Hello,

I am attempting to develop a step tracker using an nRF52832 and a BMA456. We are evaluating the nRF52 to be the Bluetooth output to the app that will be created.

I am having trouble locating information on how to setup SPI or I2C on the nRF52832. I have scoured the documentation for any example code to get started and have not found any. We really like the nRF52 for this project and would like to move forward using it. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction as our time for evaluation is limited and we may have to move forward with a different device.

If there are any examples of Bluetooth connection to devices as well as data output, I would love to see them.,

SPI:
The nRF5 SDK v17.1.0 have the nrfx SPI Master Example. 
The nRF Connect SDK has SPI samples via Zephyr (pick any sample that communicates with an external device via SPI from Samples and Demos) or via the nrfx module directly. 

BLE:
The nRF5 SDK v17.1.0 have the Bluetooth low energy examples.
The nRF Connect SDK have the Bluetooth samples.

When using the examples in nRF52 SDK v17.1.0 

I have added the programmer app to my nRF Connect for Desktop and have successfully loaded the blinky app example from the getting started example.

As before this is an endless rabbit hole that does not get me any closer to finding working example code to test. I have searched high and low to find a SPI with an external device and have not found one.

There is so many programs to sift through.

Please help if at all possible.

Do I maybe not have the correct software installed? The .hex files are useless to me as I cannot change functionality. I need to see a working SPI so I can modify it to work with the BMA456 sensor.

What sort of programs do you typically use to asses the devices (nRF52832)? (IDE, Kiel, etc..).
