Most outstanding EMEA Semiconductor Company
An award from the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA) is widely considered as one of the tier 1 awards that a semiconductor company can receive. Nordic Semiconductor has been recognized as the most outstanding semiconductor company in the EMEA region which is a great achievement for us when you consider the other great semi companies that are also in the EMEA region.
The GSA is a 400 member company-strong, non-profit international trade organization headquartered in the U.S. with offices in Asia and Europe, and its annual Awards include an on-line voting process that allows GSA members themselves, including semiconductor companies and partners, to cast a ballot for the public semiconductor company they most respect.
nRF51 and nRF52 have put Nordic in the spotlight
Nordic’s extremely popular nRF51 and nRF52 SoCs for Bluetooth Smart and ANT have taken the connectivity industry by storm over the last 4 years and have won numerous awards to date. They have proved an unbeatable combination of flexibility of a flash device coupled with the de-facto low power CPU cores for embedded wireless in connectivity products, ARM Cortex-M series. It is these devices, and more especially our outstanding engineers who developed them that are the basis for this award.
Nordic is playing in the most exciting game in town
There are many different semiconductor companies out there specializing in a vast range of different fields. Nordic’s chosen play is ultra-low power wireless connectivity system on a chip. These devices are a big challenge to design, the demands are simple 1) A powerful chip capable of carrying out almost any task from monitoring and controlling an array of sensors to running displays and enabling the device to communicate with today’s smart mobile devices 2) Do all this at miniscule power consumption levels, typically average currents of single digit microamps. Simple….right?
The reward is being involved in the most dynamic and exciting growth area in the electronics industry. This industry has only really just taken off and has one of the most promising futures of any industry today. This is why we love it.
