Ble_app_hrs configuring serial monitor

I have a project that I am updating from nordic sdk 8.1 to 12.2. I was using the ble_app_hrs when on 8.1 and am now using it as a base in 12.2 also. In 8.1 I was able to configure the serial monitor by setting the correct port, the baud rate to 38400, the parity to none, and Flow control to RTS/CTS. Yet when I moved the project to 12.2 and used the same configuration I got jibberish in the terminal (like this): "|س��س���#��3س��س���#��3س��س���#��3س��س���#��3س��س���#��3�|س��س���#��3�|س��س���#��3�|س��س���#��3�|س��س���#��3�|س��س���#��3�|س��س���#��3س��س���#��3س��س���#��3س��س�"

What I am wondering is what changes where made from 8.1 to 12 that I have to change for the serial monitor?

Try 115200 baudrate

Do you know if the LED is suppose to light up on the new ble_central/app_hrs_c example? I can't get the LED to flash like it did on the version in 8.1

Yes, the LED is supposed to flash when scanning. BSP (Board Support Package) will use the pin defined as LED_1 to indicate scanning. Make sure that the LED_1 pin corresponds to the LED on your board.
