Two nrf52 modules close-by

We are planning to use two modules at the same time one for esb and one for standard btle, because the esb is time critical and timeslot api seems to be to low priority. Do you think it is a problem to have both modules positioned on a pcb close by each other. What would be the recommendation for the ground area of each module?

Best regards Constantin

  • Hi Constantin,

you should be able to run BLE and ESB concurrently using the nRF52, see this answer. I would guess that a one BLE SoC solution is preferrable and see that you have an open question regarding BLE and ESB here.

Yes, if you want to use a two module solution, then you have to be careful regarding the placement of the antennas, i.e. they should not be placed to close to each other. As for the recommended ground plane size, it should be at least ~25mm in at least one direction and in general as large as possible. In order to give you more specific recommendations regarding your design we'll have to take a look at your layout, which can be submitted confidentially through our Mypage support portal.
