How to setup a complete BLE5 enviornment ?

I know BLE5 is the future of IoT. I also want to invest on it.

But how to setup a complete BLE5 environment? In China, IPv6 has not been supported. Therefore, 6LowPAN/Thread maybe in vain here.

And what is the status for host device for BLE5 ?

I recall my first experience for nRF51822. At that moment, BLE4 is not popular in mobile phone, so I didn't invest more. Now BLE4 is very mature, but BLE5 face the same issue. So far, we can only consider it a longer and faster BLE4.

Bluetooth 5 is coming very quickly to the mobile phone. As of this moment, iPhone 7 and Galaxy S8 already supports Bluetooth 5.0 (2Mbps). I wouldn't be surprise if most of the phones release next year will support 5.0

To setup a complete B5 environment, you can use Nordic on both end, then you can have all most all features come with B5 such as Long Range, 2Mbps, etc. Make sure you use NRF52840 on the hardware. It's the only chip from us supports B5 by now.

Hi Allank,

We will release nRF132 v5.0 that bring somes Bluetooth 5.0 features to the nRF52832 such as 2Mbps. But due to hardware limitation long range won't be supported on this chip.
