Program Sparkfun nRF52832 Breakout Board using nRF 52 DK

Hi!

This is my first time working with bluetooth and Nordic chip and I'm having program getting started.

I'm trying to program the Sparkfun nRF52832 Breakout Board as the first step of prototyping my project. I programmed the nRF 52DK with the my modified example code from SDK v12.2 through Keil and it's working. However, when I tried to load the project on the nRF 52 DK while the breakout board was connected, Keil gave error saying "No Cortex-M SE device found". I connected the breakout board and DK according to the picture from Sparkfun hookup guide:

Can I program the breakout board the same way I programed nRF 52 DK? I used the following tutorial as reference to set up my nRF 52 DK:devzone.nordicsemi.com/.../

Can someone give me some advice on how to proceed or point me to useful resource? I'm really new to this and I'm trying to learn so please explain in detail.

Connection looks ok. Can you do nrfjprog --family nrf52 --recover and see if it gives any errors? Also try swapping swdio with swclk.

The programming of the external board should be done the same way as you programmed your nRF52 DK. The on-board J-link will detect the external board and flash this if connected and powered correctly. Make sure the external board is powered externally, the four lines from the nRF52 DK does not provide power to the external board.

@Keton I tried nrfjprog --family nrf52 --recover and it gives my error saying: Recover failed. Please make sure that the correct device family is given and try again. I'm pretty sure that I'm using nRF52 DK. I also tried swapping swdio with swclk but it still gave me error.

@Jørgen Holmefjord The sparkfun breakout board is connect to my computer through a FTDI board and the LEDs are flashing when nRF52 DK is not connected so I believe it's powered by the computer. I can still program the nRF52 DK when the breakout board is not connected but once it's connected, I can't load program on it. They both have nRF52832.

@Sylvia this rules out software issues. The problem is most likely in the hardware. Check your connections and boards Vcc level.
