Looking for dev kit to play wth S130

I am looking for a dev kit which would allow me to try out SoftDevice S130, will I be able to use S130 if I buy any of these:

nRF51822-mKIT

nRF51822 DK

nRF51822 EK

?

Or I need something else?

[Replying to DiamondS]: Thanks for the reply. I am thinking to buy 2 Evaluation Kits (because it seems like to go with Dev Kit I would also need to buy nRFGo Starter Kit which is kind of expensive), are there any examples in S130 which can be run on Evaluation Kit? In addition - how usable/buggy it (S130) is - is it OK or I had better wait for Beta/Production ?

By the way, wanted to double check, if I buy Dev Kit I must also buy nRFGo, otherwise I will not be able to connect buttons and LEDs, is that correct assumption or it is actually possible (by soldering?) to connect Buttons/LEDs to the Dev Kit without buying nRFGo?

  • I was able to use S130 nRF51822 DK and nRF51822 EK with some modifications (button, leds pins). I beleive S130 wil work with nRF51822-mKIT also.

  • As DiamondS says, the S130 will work with the Development Kit and the Evaluation Kit (with some modifications.

The Development Kit requires the nRFgo Starter Kit. It is possible to hack it so that it works without, but I don't recommend doing so. See this question for more differences between the Evaluation Kit and the Development Kit.

The S130 is an alpha release, and the SDK doesn't have examples for it yet. There is one proof of concept example that is included in the S130 SoftDevice download. There is an error in the S130 Specification, please see this question.

I can't say if it's better to wait or not, the alpha is good for getting familiar with the S130.
