FCC certification for nRF51822 based remote control with Gazell

Hi,

I am developing a remote control device (and a receiver) based on the nRF51822 which will use the Gazell protocol. The hardware will be an own design or one of the 3rd party modules which are listed on the Nordic web page. The remote and the receiver will need FCC certification, so the device can be sold in the US.

Is there any Documentation (AppNote, Whitepaper) that describes what is required to pass FCC certification when using the Gazell protocol?

There's no specific document related to Gazell, but you might have some benefit from reading the white paper on regulatory and requirements around the world.

So the two parts of the FCC standard that you would have to test towards is either 15.247 or 15.249. Depending on the bandwidth and output power used. Normally it's not a problem for our customers to meet the requirements, but we still highly recommend to follow our reference schematic and layout closely.

There might be some practical details with regard to the testing that could vary from test house to test house. So I would also suggest to contact the test house you're planning on using to hear what kind of test modes they prefer to have available. We have a radio_test_example in the SDK with functions for most normal test modes.

Did someone already achieve the FCC certification with the Gazell protocol?

The biggest problem which I see is mentioned in §15.247 -> The system shall hop to channel frequencies that are selected at the system hopping rate from a pseudo randomly ordered list of hopping frequencies. Each frequency must be used equally on the average by each transmitter

Gazell is normally using a fixed channel table. Is it somehow possible to make this table randomly generated?
