Hardware requirements for Over the Air application updates

Hi,

I have been trying to study how to implement support for over-the-air (OTA) updates in my current S110-based project. But I'm already stuck in the very beginning. How do I determine if our custom Nordic nRF51822 board supports OTA updates? What are the hardware requirements in terms of port connections and pin connections for the nRF51822 chip to support OTA updating?

Any help is much appreciated.

You don't have to do anything specific with regard to HW in order to enable OTA. As long as the radio behaves as expected and that you can run one or several of the BLE related code examples you are fine. OTA uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to send the updated firmware.

Just a follow-up question to the same topic. So, updating the Softdevice over-the-air also doesn't require any special hardware? Is that correct?

No, the ability is a matter of softdevice and firmware support.
