Powering nRF51 Dongle from a battery

I want to power the dongle from a 5V battery but don't want to solder directly to USB pads at the risk of ruining them. Can I put the 5V from the battery at the Vin point? Normally the board is supplied power at Vbus point.

If you can't figure this out for yourself, it suggests you don't have much understanding of hardware.

A better approach for you might be to get an extension cable or OTG cable and cut it in half.

You can then power via the cable without doing any soldering onto the board.

I am aware about the option of using an OTG, but I see no point in adding more hardware if it is possible to just power the board via Vin (whether it is or isn't doesn't depend on me understanding hardware).

Answering my own question: Yes, it will work fine.
