What flasher can I use to program nRF51822?

Hello,

I am looking for a not expensive way to program nRF51822 by frame of 10 modules. All the 10 modules would be connected to a PC using pogo pins, and I would use a custom software to drive the nrfjprog Nordic software to program the chips one by one.

My first idea was to use 10 SEGGER Arm flasher, but the quotation was very expensive : around 6k $. It would be cheaper to buy 10 development kit to get 10 Segger J-Link lite CortexM-9...

After some research, I have found Olimex product ARM-USB-TINY, but I am not sure that this product is compatible to program nRF51822 chips using Serial Wire Debug (SWD) interface defined by ARM.

What do you use/recommend to program nRF51822 chip? Is there a possibility to program simultaneously several chips using something like a bang flasher?

Hi Sébastien,

For ISP (in-system programming) production programming, we recommend using the Segger ARM flasher series (the one you have linked to). There are gang-programmers available from manufacturers like Elnec (beeprog+ series and upwards) and Hi-Lo (A100-series) but these are for socket programming mainly.

The programmer that you linked to, Olimex, seems to use OpenOCD, and I believe the nRF51822 is not supported.

You can use stlink v2 or clone (available for $7) and openOCD v0.8 to program nrf51822. I programmed it with success. openOCD v0.8 supports nrf51_stlink target :)

openOCD patches supports Jlink target now. Got 22 Kib/s upload speed...

Is it possible to program the chip using the evaluation kit? I mean.... soldering two wires to the SWD/RST pins of the SEGGER chip?
