What is the difference between nRF51822 and nRF51422?

Hi,

What is the actual difference in hardware between the two chips? I know they support different soft devices but is there any actual difference in the hardware? Or is it a certification thing?

If I had the time and patience, would it be possible for me to write an ANT stack for the nRF51822 for example?

Hi Tim, the nRF51822 and nRF51422 share the same HW architecture. ANT is a 3rd party protocol stack. Due to this there are some built-in features on the nRF51422 for using an ANT stack. These features are not present on the nRF51822 and thus any stack that contains ANT will not run on the nRF51822
