Multiple connections to a slave (BLE)

I have a device (configured as a slave) which is connected to a relay to on/off a motor. Now, I need to connect it to multiple masters (e.g., couple of smartphones) to remotely control the motor? how is it possible? In BLE 4.0 document, it is mentioned that the slave can be connected to only one master simultaneously! but in reality, I see some counter examples. to name a few of them: August Lock (it has one permament bluetooth connection to the wifi-hub, at the same time different users can control it via bluetooth!). or some headphones or smartwatches, etc.

  • I'm not familiar with the August lock. But I would guess it's not actually connected to two central devices at the same time. Most likely it is advertising, so the peer can connect to it and lock/unlock the door, then disconnect again. Would this be a possible solution for your use case?
