NRF24L01P-R7 gain in terms of distance

Hi,

I am using your NRF24L01P-R7 part .Can you please specify its maximum distance upto which it can detect other TAG in open area when there is no wind at normal atmospheric condition.

Please tell below points.

When gain is at 0DBM,what will be the maximum distance upto which it can transmit? When gain is at -6DBM,what will be the maximum distance upto which it can transmit? When gain is at -12DBM,what will be the maximum distance upto which it can transmit? When gain is at -18DBM,what will be the maximum distance upto which it can transmit?

And one more thing do it will detect every TAG which is not even from Nordiac and what i supposed to implement if i want only specific TAG only to be detected.

Can u suggest anything to increase the GAIN of nordiac chipset so that i can read the TAG at greater distance.

  • Hi, Since this is theoretical values I would recommend that you try one of the free space calculators available on the internet. e.g. this. E.G at 100m at 0dBm you will get a 80 dB loss. while at -18 you will give the same loss at around 13m.

The receiver will detect any TAG that is transmitting at the same frequency/channel with the correct modulation and address.

Not much you can do to increase the gain of the chipset. But you could increase the range by adding a PA, or using a directed antenna.
