Can we use SPI NAND flash having 166Mhz/104Mhz clock frequency with nRF52840 which supports upto 8Mbps data transfer speed on SPIM0-2. and upto 32Mbps on SPIM3 peripheral?

Hi,

Please suggest if we can use a SPI NAND flash with 104Mhz frequency with nRF52840 chip. The document of SPI NAND flash says 104Mhz is the clock frequency for all the instructions. And in the general description it says the device supports clock frequency upto 104Mhz.

Does that mean it will support upto 8Mbps or 32Mbps clock frequency too which is the max value supported by SPIM0-3 on nRF52840 chip?

Please guide. The SPI flash which I am refering to is W25N512GVxIG.

Hi,

the datasheet of the flash chip says any clock frequency between DC and 104MHz will work. So 8 and 32 MHz would be OK.

Unfortunately we don't support NAND flash in our SDKs. We recommend you to use the supported NOR type instead.

It's not recommended to use because of limitation in SDK of no support for NAND flash or is there any other reason of it? One can always add the driver support as a thrid party library to SDK? Is there any other limitation or concern?
