Custom Board - nrf9160

Good day 

We have developed a custom board using the nrf9160.  What would i need to do to have it simply show up as anything in device manager.  The USB slot is able to provide power to the device but it is never detected.  At the moment we are are using RTT for logs and the  j-link programming.  I have followed the sparkfun thing plus hookup guide but it seems as though this tutorial assumes that the device will show up under device manager once its plugged in.  Unfortunately we see nothing.  What do I need to do to make sure this happens?

Windows "device manager"? And "USB" is implemented using what? Nordic Chip? FTDI Chip? CP2102 Chip?

If you use Windows, that supports some USB chips "out of the box" and for other USB chips you need to install drivers.

The USB is implemented using CP2102N-A02-GQFN20R.  Thank you for the assistance I know very little about this.  Where do I find the driver and how would I go about implementing it?

The sparkfun board is based on the nrf9160 feather .

That's a good place to get information around that.

Having trouble? You may need to install the Silabs VCP driver. Download and install the CP210x VCP Windows option.

By the way, search the web for "CP2102 windows driver" should also help ;-).

I have downloaded and installed CP210x USB to UART Bridge VCP Drivers already but im still not detecting anything when the board is plugged in.  What can I expect once i've done this?

You have already implemented USB using the CP2102. All you need for Windows is to install the driver.
