Error: Error: Failed to unpack toolchain bundle

Hey

I am trying to install nrf connect sdk 2.4.0

i am running ubuntu 22.04.

I get the following error when i try to install the sdk:

Caused by: 0: failed to unpack /media/peter/data/code/ncs/tmp/.tmpn4TLC1/var/lib/dpkg/info/libsasl2-modules-db:amd64.md5sums 1: failed to unpack var/lib/dpkg/info/libsasl2-modules-db:amd64.md5sums into /media/peter/data/code/ncs/tmp/.tmpn4TLC1/var/lib/dpkg/info/libsasl2-modules-db:amd64.md5sums 2: Invalid argument (os error 22)

Can you please help me?

It works if i install it to ~/ncs

why cant i install it to a different partition on my disk?

Hi Peter,

What filesystem are you using/working on? You can find this by doing cat /proc/mounts and look for the /media/peter entry

its an ntfs filesystem

Hi Peter,

The reason it fails could be because ":" is not an allowed character on ntfs file systems. The file it tries to unpack is named "libsasl2-modules-db:amd64.md5sums", which causes it to fail. Other than that, placing the NCS install directory on any partition or folder other than ~/ncs should be fine.
