nRF Connect bricks PPK without any complain

The UI for Bluetooth Low Energy sub-app and for Power Profiler subapp are visually similar, and their run buttons placed near of each other. I unintentionally clicked at BLE app while want to click on Power Profiler app, click "Select device", and it found my PPK, but asked me to upgrade its firmware, while I was talking with a colleague, and I pressed "OK". After that my PPK become broken (of course, BLE device firmware is not PPK firmware), and I just got bricked PPK. Thanks a lot.

I think you should add firmware recognition before scanning available devices, or before showing the suggestion to perform DFU. Because probably you have nRF chips everywhere in your devices.

I would suggest to stop using these stupid electron/positron/js/whatever apps, just use Qt.

UPD: I found similar topics, where is the unbrick procedure written.

  • Hi Timur,

Could you try the following steps:

Disconnect all other nordic devices from the computer, turn off the kit and remove it from the plastic by removing the four screws. Insert USB to J2 (USB DATA/POWER). Short a connection between GND (e.g on the four pin power output header) to TP34 on the PPK2. While holding the jumper cable, turn the kit on and remove the jumper. Now the PPK2 should be in bootloader again.

Open the PPK app, and select the device which is now just a serial number.

When selecting it, the user will be prompted to program the application
