Loading BLE Standalone firmware fails for nrf52840 Dongle. PCA10059

When I connect my nrf52 Dongle to the PC, It is flashing red slowly. This indicates the device is in boot loader mode. I want to use nrf Connect BLE Standalone application on my PC so I opened that windows and selected the dongle. WHen this dongle is connected to PC, it is propting me to programmed the device where I clicked yes. After loading the software, device still blinking red and Programing window is stuck on here and log shows that Failed to write to the target device: async task failure for id: 536530459 msg:timeout after partial image *****

  • Hi

I just tested this on my end with the Bluetooth Low Energy Standalone app and an nRF52840 Dongle and did not see this issue. What I do see is that after the initial SDFU update it attaches to the serial port, opens the serial port and uploads a second image through SDFU before successfully connecting with the nRF52 Connectivity firmware in-app.

Can you share some details as to what version you have of J-Link, nRF Command Line Tools, nRF Connect for Desktop (not the Standalone app), as well as what OS your computer is running? You can also try to enable Verbose logging and upload the log as .txt file here so our devs can have a look. It could also be useful to see what revision you have of the Dongle (v1.2.0 on my end).

    Best regards,

    Simon
