Expected behavior if VDDH is NOT connected to VDD in "Normal voltage mode"

Hi! Looks like our HW designer forgot to connect VDDH to VDD pin on the PCB while the device is in "Normal voltage mode"... VDD's supply voltage is 1.8V. We do use both DC-DC regulators (not LDO) - VREGMAIN and VREGRADIO.

How bad is that if VDDH is left floating?

Should we expect huge problems? Additional power consumption, etc.?

  • Hi,

We do recommend following our reference and connecting VDDH and VDD for normal voltage mode. It probably might work, because the VDDH follows the VDD by one diode drop below, if left open, but it's not recommended and we cannot guarantee proper working. We cannot predict exactly what problems might occur and it probably works more often than not.
