USB won't see the board on Windows PC ...but it did in past.

Relatively new to the Nordic Kits, although I have done a little Arduino development in the past.

I received a nRF52833 DK about a week or so ago, and being impatient to get going I plugged the board into my Windows PC with a USB - it was recognised and brought up a folder of files, including some links to MBED software and IDEs. I installed some of the MBED software and generally tried various options. I'm not certain but I think at one stage I may have selected an option to clear the board memory.

After much reading and watching of videos I then decided that VS Studio with the nRF Connect was the way to go - so I uninstalled  MBED and installed VS plus all sorts of extensions, including JLink, Zephyr etc. I have now got to a stage where I have the Blinky example code compiling and building....BUT ...the board is no longer recognised on USB.

I have tried to press the reset button whilst plugging in to USB - but nothing. 

I have tried a different PC and different cable - but it just won't be seen at all.

Please if anyone can help I would be most grateful.

Could it be that you've changed the debugger firmware from J-Link to Mbed?

This is how you recover a board with a non-nRF SEGGER debugger IC:

1. Power off the board

2. Hold down the IF RESET/BOOT button

3. Power on the board, and see that LD5 blinks with a interval of 1 second.

4. A "BOOTLOADER" drive should appear on your computer.

5. Download the jlink binary file from here: https://nsscprodmedia.blob.core.windows.net/prod/software-and-other-downloads/dev-kits/nrf5x-dk-files/j-link-ob-sam3u128-v2-nordicsemi-170724.bin (linked from the nRF52-DK page on our main website)

6. Drag and drop this .bin file to the "BOOTLOADER" drive, wait 30 seconds and power cycle your DK.

Thank you. I have now loaded the blinky example code, but I'm not getting any output in the terminal window.Should be some Printk s. Do I need to configure this somehow

Does the hello_world sample give any serial output?

 

If it still does not work, can you try other serial terminals, like putty/teraterm/realterm or similar?

No Hello World doesn't, although the Build and Flash process shows output on terminal. I can see board as Com4 in device manager, so wondering I need to configure terminal to that somehow. I'm very new to using VS and nRF connect so at a loss to find myself around it.

Thanks for advice - and I have now rectified this problem and can see the terminal connected to COM4.
