NRF24L01+ / 2450BM14A0002 Layout Question

Hello Guys,

I did ran the same PCB Layout without the 2450BM before.

It was a little bit tricky because the less space leads to a unusually (not clean as possible) layout. Now I want to test the same PCB with the 2450BM and I want to ask, is the layout ok?

My antenna PCB is seperate, worked in the past ok, no errors! What did you say, ok or not ok? I want to be better... :)

Its a 4 layer PCB.

1: signal layer top

2: Ground

3: +3,3V

4: signal layer bottom

Best regards

Sven

  • Hi Sven,

    Apologies for the delay.

This configuration can be difficult to get working properly. As there should be a continuous 50Ohm impedance along the entire RF trace. Have the board to board connection been simulated and optimized for minimal power loss?

The antenna needs a matching network, the exact type should be specified in the antenna datasheet. If this matching network is mounted on the main board, it may be possible to compensate for any impedance mismatch in the right angle connection when tuning. It is difficult for me to comment on whether getting a good antenna performance will be possible without testing the board.
