nrf9161 Footprint

Hi,

I am preparing a design for the nrf 9161 and compared the layouts of the development kit board with the older 9160 variant. The differences of the chips layout are minimal (4 groundpads slightly moved resulting in just 2 bigger pads) but the changes in the footprint are drastic. The older board makes the landing pads twice the sice of the pads on the chip, with 4 times the size in the corners. The new design is 1:1 the size of the chips pads.

Is this the new recommendation for both chips or just for the 9161? If so, why the change? Finally a footprint recommendation in the datasheet for both chips would be nice.

There may have been some practical reasons for the change, but I am not exactly sure.

A quick update: there were supposedly some soldering issues, which caused the change.

I would assume that the change is relevant for both the 9161 and 9131.

To my knowledge you should just use the footprints recommended in the documentation/reference hardware design for each of the devices.
