s130 on evaluation board

Hello,

I have PCA10004 rev 2.2.0 evaluation kit and have tested S110 applications with SDK9.0 and softdevice 8.0. Now I am working on S130 stack, softdevice v 1.0.0 and 9.0 SDK. Can I use the same board PCA10004 to work with S130? Is there any difference between PCA10004 and PCA10028?

Regards, Sowmya

  • Hi

There are some difference between PCA10004 and PCA10028, but it is not the board itself that affects SoftDevice compatibility.

The main issue with the PCA10004 boards is that they are using the older versions of the nRF51x22 chip (rev 2 or earlier).
As you can see from the nRF51 Series Compatibility Matrix you need rev 3 parts to use the latest SDK and SoftDevice.

In theory you could replace the chip on your PCA10004 board with a rev 3 part, but I would recommend getting a new PCA10028 board instead.

    Best regards
